Peugeot 504 Coupe V6 Gr.4 Safari Rally 1978
Amongst all the rally championships in the world, the Safari Rally has a special place in most peoples’ hearts. It alone represents the difficulty on the African continent, both for the mechanic and for the driver behind the wheel. In the year of 1978, Peugeot was on the starting blocks, yearning for revenge after two consecutive failures the previous years. The team placed three 504 V6 Gr.4 coupés in the rally, all equipped with a 2700 cm³ engine and two triple carburettors, which made them both reliable enough to get them across the finish line. It was also thanks to the sturdiness of the car that Nicolas was able to finish in first place.
