Adorned with the colors of Renault France and the inscription “Vive le sport” (Long live sport) in yellow and black, the peaceful R21 became a group N rally car. With a few minor modifications, it was possible to achieve 230 horsepower with this family car. To ensure it was able to participate, the ABS was disconnected, the cables redone, and the pneumatics were improved. This particular Renault was called the Chartres and was entrusted to Philippe Bugalski for the Tour de Corse. Despite an impressive performance, it forfeited following the car leaving the track. This didn’t stop it from knowing an admirable career afterwards.
