When Volvo enters the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship), it is done in an original way. A joint project with Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) has been built around the Volvo 850... Estate! This impactful choice crystallizes the attention of spectators and the media on this car. It also has a positive effect on Volvo models in the UK and the brand's image with consumers. On the track, the first season is a full-scale learning session for the team. Nevertheless, by the end of the season, the results were encouraging. Jan Lammers takes 5th place in Race 2 at Brands Hatch. The 850 BTCC in its Estate version goes down in motor sport history as one of the most original cars ever used by a manufacturer in official competition!
