Quadruple World Rally Champion (1986, 1987, 1991, and 1993), Juha Kankkunen has been a Toyota driver since the start of the 1993 season. At the end of the 1994 season, Toyota launched its new weapon, the Celica ST205, which succeeded the victorious ST165 and ST185. This new Celica was produced in Germany at TTE (Toyota Team Europe) and featured the famous Castrol livery. At the 1995 Monte Carlo Rally, Juha Kankkunen managed to secure an impressive podium behind Sainz’s Impreza and Delecour’s Escort. A promising result to kick off the new season and pursue a fifth championship title. However, the season ended in an unusual way for Toyota. The team was disqualified for cheating, using a circlip to modify the turbo’s restrictor. The Celica ST205 thus entered WRC history in a unique way, but it remains one of the most beloved Group A cars thanks to its distinctive look.
