In 1977, the movie Smokey and the Bandit was released and became a huge hit. The hero's car, a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, also became a star. It stood out with its black and gold livery and the iconic "screaming chicken" on the hood—an optional decal package launched by Pontiac a few years earlier. This now-legendary design was inspired by a Tiffany vase. As for the color combination, it was a nod to Lotus's John Player Special Formula 1 livery, which was highly admired by Bill Mitchell, GM's VP of Design at the time. The success of the "Hood Bird" and this Pontiac is undeniable. It has spanned generations, making this Trans Am one of the most beloved muscle cars in the world!
