The Scirocco enjoyed its glory days between 1974 and 1992 across two generations before abruptly disappearing from the Volkswagen catalog. In 2008, the German brand wanted to offer a sports coupe version of its Golf V. That was how the Scirocco made its comeback. The first phase was launched in 2009 and met with immediate success. Over eight years of production, this third generation exceeded 200,000 units sold. To compete with the Focus RS, Volkswagen launched the Scirocco R in early 2010—a more powerful and sportier version producing 265 horsepower!
