The Alpine A310 was the last Alpine designed under the direction of Jean Rédélé, founder of the brand. The VF version of the A310 distinguished itself with electronic fuel injection—a technological step forward set against the backdrop of the oil crisis. The French Gendarmerie followed suit and equipped its fleet with the brand-new A310 1600VF.

The French GT was selected to equip high-speed pursuit and quick-intervention units. From 1974 to 1987, this model carried out rapid chases across France, aided by its top speed of 205 km/h (127 mph) and true GT performance.
