Fiat 131 Abarth

For the 1980 World Rally Championship season, Fiat aimed for good results and gave itself the means to achieve its ambitions. In Monte-Carlo, the goal was to finish first! For this, the Italian team lined up a talented German driver by the name of Walter Röhrl. Röhrl performed an almost perfect race. Uncompromising on almost 700 km of timed stages, Röhrl left no chance for the stage locals or the former Monte-Carlo winners. He rallied Monaco with more than 10 minutes to spare in front of of Bernard Darniche! A victory that set the tone for the 1980 season of Röhrl and the Fiat 131 Abarth. The duo would remain untouchable and went on to win 4 victories in 7 events and become world champion in 1980 rallies!
