Nissan 240 RS

The Nissan 240 RS is what came after the previous Japanese manufacturer’s steed in rallying, the Datsun Violet GTS. The 240 RS was build using the base of a compact car, also known as a Silvia in certain regions. It was one of the first rally cars developed to race alongside others in group B. The design of the 240 RS was fairly standard, but was also particularly robust, something that was appreciated during African rallies, the tracks for which often put cars through a lot. In 1984, Shekhar Mehta and Rob Combes took part in the Safari Rally. They finished 5th, right alongside far more powerful cars like the Audi Quattro and Lancia 037, mainly thanks to the drivers’ skills and the reliability of this particular model.
