When thinking of 4x4s, French vehicles don't necessarily come to mind. And yet, the 504 Dangel is one of the rare French 4x4s that managed to make a name for itself! Henry Dangel was a coachbuilder specialized in modifying cars. In the 1980s, to compete with Land Cruisers, Range Rovers, and other Land Rovers, he decided to develop a French model. To do this, he modified a Peugeot 504 station wagon and presented his prototype to Peugeot in 1978. The manufacturer from Sochaux quickly approved the project, and the production model went on sale in 1981! Initially offered only as a station wagon, this 4x4 quickly welcomed a pick-up version to meet the needs of professionals. Accessible, made in France, and well-helped by rally-raid participations (such as the Paris-Dakar), the 504 Dangel is a success!
