As Renault's flagship saloon in the 1980s, the 25 was naturally available in numerous versions and with several engine options. The V6 variant was a direct response to the German rivals (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi) of the era. Although not particularly appreciated in the R30 TX, the 2,664 cc V6 engine was far more convincing in the R25. Producing 144 horsepower, the fuel-injected V6 engine allowed the saloon to exceed 200 km/h (124 mph). However, the car's main selling points were above all its comfort and equipment: a hi-fi sound system with steering wheel controls, electric adjustable front seats, an oil pressure gauge, an on-board trip computer, electric mirrors, cruise control, and even a voice synthesizer! No doubt about it, we're definitely in the 80s!
